PAS offers services that may be welcomed by you by way of supplementing or supplying resources that would be beneficial for the schools.  See details elsewhere on the site.  These include:

  • The PAS Tutoring and Testing Centre  (a broad range of services for special needs students).
  • The services of Educational Assistants.
  • On-going communication via PAS ON-CALL (416-381-3813).
  • Workshops for staff on Transitions and How to Work Effectively with Parents.
  • Professional Counseling Services.
  • ESL Classes.
  • PAS associates who speak a variety of languages.
  • Tailoring programs to meet the specific needs of a particular school.

An area of  increasing concern is that of self-advocacy for exceptional students. This fits in with the mandate that the new eligibility profiles for students with Learning Disabilities require evidence in the IEP that the student's program addresses self-advocacy skills. Groups to which we have presented workshops in self-advocacy have told us that they are urging parents to ask the schools about self-advocacy skills in their child's IEP.

PAS would be pleased to discuss presenting workshops to school personnel so that this mandate may be observed.
