With the permission of the parents we would like to share with you our findings and impressions of the student and of the salient facts of the case. We would like to suggest to you what we think might be useful and what might work and it would be up to you to judge what you thought was beneficial in your work with the student. In some instances the situation may have more to do with other school personnel but your views would still be quite important.

We may be in a position to suggest materials, programs, ideas, assistive devices or tips that you may decide are useful in helping the special needs youngster under discussion. With classroom pressures and the stressful requirements of ministering to the educational needs of exceptional children in a regular class it is sometimes difficult to decide on the best teaching methods under the circumstances. Many teachers have shared their concerns with us in these matters.

You may find it relevant to know that Parent's Advocacy in the School (PAS) has established the PAS Tutoring and Testing Centre specifically for special needs students. You can get details elsewhere on this site. The tutors in many instances speak more than one language which may be useful in conveying their goals to the parents of some of the children. Related to this, we offer ESL assistance, as well, which may be helpful to students from other countries. The Testing Centre furnishes a broad range of testing services.

Another PAS feature is arranging to have the services of an educational assistant. Many of the students in the families we have assisted have benefited from the additional work done with an EA.

If you have questions in any of these areas please contact us and bring them to our attention.
